Paulina Ruiz Carballido. 

Choreographic artist interested in creating spaces for experimentation to reveal the interactions, confrontations and resonances of a body-voice in becoming, of a becoming world. She creates choreographic projects in which she investigates and co-creates links based on ancestry and personal mythology, trying to decolonize knowledge from the body in resonance with the community, the landscape and nature. She collaborates, resonates and intervenes as a choreographic artist, dancer, teacher in different projects, contexts and constellations of artists to sow other possibilities for cohabitation, peace, support and trust. His choreographic, broadcast, research and videodance work has been presented at festivals in Latin America, the US, Canada and Europe. 

 

He began his contemporary dance studies with Maestro Gerardo Ibanéz at the Casa de la Cultura Oaxaca,Mexico.Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Bachelor of Dance (2008) from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla in Mexico. In 2013, she graduated from the Master of Research in Dance with the mention "Trés bien", Suma Cum Laude from the Paris VIII Vincennes Saint Denis University in France, with the thesis "The screen as a choreographic space. Study on the cinematographic approximation of dance in the works of Maya Deren – Talley Beatty A study in choreography for camera et Merce Cunningham – Charles Atlas Locale”, thanks to the support of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts and the National Science Council and Technology through the Scholarship Program for Studies Abroad, 2010-2012 (FONCA CONACYT). In 2015, he obtained the DE Professor of Contemporary Dance from the CN D Center National de la Danse Pantin, France.

She has been a FONCA-CONACYT Scholar for Studies Abroad (2010-2012), PECDA Oaxaca "b" (2012), Young Creators (2014-2015) and Promotion of Cultural Projects and Co-investments (2017). Associate artist of Agite y Sirva Festival Itinerante (MX) and co-founder of Collectif VIDDA (FR). Co-directs with Ximena Monroy Rocha the publication "Hybrid creation in videodance".He has collaborated with Agite y Sirva Festival Itinerante de Videodanza and CaSa (Oaxaca), co-directing with Ximena Monroy Rocha the international residencies: "Hybrid Communities" (2015), "Resonancias" (2017), "Híbridos expanded" (2018) and Intermedial Dialogues (2019). He collaborates with Ximena Monroy Rocha on the first "Diploma in coreo-cinema" thanks to the support of the "Support Program for Teaching, Research and Dissemination of the Arts" PADID 2019, a collaboration between the CaSa Center for the Arts of San Agustin Etla and Shake and Serve Itinerant Videodance Festival in Oaxaca, Mexico.

 

His choreographic, transmission, and research workation and videodance has been presented at festivals in Latin America, the US, Canada and Europe. He is part of the REDIV 2019 curatorial committee "Merce Cunningham Centennial: the elemental, the unpredictable, the unexpected" a collaboration with the Merce Cunningham Trust Foundation and REDIV 2019 within the framework of the Cunningham Centennial. He has collaborated with since 2019 in the choreographic trilogy "Des pas si présent" with Stéphanie Janaina and in complicity with Jean-Baptiste Fave, a project that tries to answer the question: What were our first sounds?, inspired by the phenomenon of black-out.

He regularly teaches contemporary dance and videodance classes in all its forms to different audiences and structures.
